Place to Belong
We run 2 art & craft workshops per week for adults living in the Plymouth area, who struggle with their mental health or feel that their wellbeing is being affected by how they feel.
We send out CraftyBags each week that contain a project i.e. macrame, punch needle embroidery, sockie sausage dog making & then arrange zoom calls so we can all craft together.
We have fun and so do the people who come us. We want those who feel isolated, lonely and struggling with their mental health to join our sessions and leave with a smile on their faces.
We run regular events and workshops for anyone wanting to be creative.
If you would like to know more about our work or join one of our groups please complete our simple form below, we would love to hear from you.
We’re proud to have an inviting studio in St Budeaux, Plymouth, where everyone is welcome. Our sessions offer a safe, friendly environment where people can truly be themselves.
We help people understand that what they’re going through is okay — and that they’re not alone. By bringing people together, we create a supportive community where everyone looks out for one another through genuine peer support.
At Art Craft & Laughter, we connect like-minded people for person-centred, caring support. The act of creating in a fun and understanding space helps people relax, build confidence, and open up about their struggles if they wish to. The difference this makes to people’s lives is incredible.
Through a variety of creative activities, we see a wonderful range of benefits — from improved wellbeing and confidence to new friendships and a greater sense of belonging.
We know that coming to a new place can feel scary. We see the nerves and anxieties when people first arrive, but it’s amazing how quickly those worries melt away. Before long, people are relaxing, laughing, and genuinely enjoying themselves. Our sessions soon become something they look forward to every week.
"Just want to say thank you for having me in your group.
You will never know how much this group means to me. When I first arrived I was so nervous, but after being with the group for approximately 10 mins, I felt relaxed and really enjoyed myself. It was so good to be with others that are through similar traumas and to be able to feel comfortable to talk and share our experiences.
I really missed the craft sessions when lockdown started, but again you came up trumps and started the Zoom workshops. I looked forward to these sessions and the fun and laughter we always have together.
My anxiety levels have certainly dropped since joining the group.
Thank you so much."
